Can You Walk And Sew?

Now how cool is the new show Project Accessory?

Power dills, sanding machines, leather sewing machines, loads of accessories to work with and tools beyond your wildest dreams! Fashion meets wood shop, jewelry, and an Italian handbag factory all in one!
A factory not seen like this in the United States since corporations sent them to China!

Hey, if you are looking at these shows like I am, I see new generations of people being inspired to learn these trades and start their own business or perhaps their own factories again here in the USA.

As an educator, author, and designer myself, I love watching these shows! I see so many of the new generations now wanting to pick up a sewing machine today and learn!

This type of sewing excitement and inspiration has not been seen in years since the home sewer took off her girdle and started making quilts!

Now, sewing shows like Project Runway and Project Accessory are inspiring the new generations to learn a new trade and design skills so they can create their own business!

And today, we have both men and women in these trades working in textiles and designing.

I see a vision of manufacturing jobs coming back in the future into the USA. Why? Because people are wanting to LEARN again! And not just for a hobby, but for a business skill.

If you are watching these shoes as just another reality TV show,
then chances are, you are not in the mind set to be your own boss or reach for greater things in life for yourself and for people all around you.

You have to admire and respect the designers who are competing on these shows. There are two kinds of people, those who inspire and become leaders that put themselves out there and take risks, and those who are happy to go home after 5pm working for someone else.

If you watch Project Runway, or Project Accessory, tune out the drama and watch the creation happening. Listen to the mentors and the judges on what they have to say. If you, yourself sew, inspire to be a designer or create your own business, or just love to watch other people be creative, you must marvel and respect these designers who are putting themselves out there!

You just never know, many of these designers one day could be responsible for bringing textile manufacturing back to the USA, and a job for YOU!

WAIT - THERE IS MORE INSPIRATION!

A young married couple created their own jean factory in Raleigh, North Carolina called RALEIGH DENIM. They were able to get a major kick start for their business when the stimulus program by the government was offered. They created new jobs, got their order out and now are distributing their made in the USA jeans around the world.
Check out their history by watching their video at the link below.

Here is the bottom line. Because of shows like PROJECT RUNWAY and PROJECT ACCESSORY, hope for manufacturing to be brought back to the USA is there. The more people want to learn these trades, the more that can be made in the good ole' USA again!
If people are inspired, they will want to learn, and learning leads to creating new jobs.

THANK YOU to the producers, competing designers, judges, and sponsors on these shows!
