Hello to all! My most recent tour on the West coast teaching my Celebrity Bags workshop was wonderful. I got to see some friends I made from my last trip out that way, and I met some new friends on this visit. It always amazes me how lucky I am that I get to travel across this great country and meet some of the best fiber artists today.
My first stop was 35th Avenue sewing in Phoenix,Arizona.
Most of these gals in my class are die hard quilters. The store features mostly quilts hanging as their samples. However, the interest of fashion sewing has stirred up a new wave of interest and 35th is now offering more sewing and fashion sewing classes. Be sure to click their logo above and check their class schedule.
The students all completed their designer bags in my 2 day workshop. I was told some even went out shopping for new shoes!
Next up was a little break. I headed over to visit my friend whom I have known for over 30 years in Palm Springs, California. It had been about 10 years since we have seen each other.
We both used to work for the phone company and became friends while working on a long distance investigation via on the phone. Long before the internet and having Facebook to meet new friends.
He took me around to meet many of his business and personal friends. It had been years since I had been in Palm Springs and it had changed quite a bit.
We did some shopping. It seemed like everyone had dogs there.
People were walking their dogs everywhere and even in some of the outdoor restaurants our little furry friends are welcomed to sit with their owners next to the tables.
Speaking of, I fell in love with someone new! Her name is Murphy and she took my heart away when I had to leave. Each night she would jump on my chest and snuggle under my chin until her daddy called her up to his bed.
We then took off to San Bernardino. We stopped to visit our friend Jamers at the cemetary who passed away several years ago. He was an angel on earth and I am sure he is the head angel in heaven. We miss you Jamers.
We then headed into Los Angeles for a day to do some industrial sewing machine shopping for my handbag factory.
I headed over to meet a man I had been watching forever on Youtube. Mr. Atlas Levy.
He sells new and used industrial sewing equipment and supplies. What a treasure chest this man has in his store.
If you are really into power sewing, this is the place to check out.
He never shows his face in his Youtube videos, so I asked him if I could do a short video of his store and introduce him to his Youtube fans. He agreed and even gave me a big hug for coming all the way from Florida to buy equipment at his Los Angeles store. Check out the video at this link.
